Sally Walker Brown

Sally Walker-Brown has been a photographer for 30 years. She has a Certificate in Art and Design from Caulfield Institute of Technology, Victoria and a Certificate of Photography from the Queensland College of Art. Her photographic work has been within the media, working on numerous publications, notably the Redland Times for 30 years, Bayside Bulletin 24 years (since it's inception), The Sunday Mail and Courier Mail, The Brisbane Telegraph, and The Catholic Leader, as well as various magazines.


The Creative Industry Skills Council is the lead industry body providing high-level strategic vocational education and training advice to ensure future skills development and enhanced workforce capacity in the creative industries.

 

The Skills Council facilitates collaboration between businesses, government and registered training providers at state and national levels to support economic growth within the creative industries in Queensland.

Dance Qualifications - industry consultations
The development of dance qualifications and skill sets for inclusion in a Live Performance Training Package is being undertaken as part of IBSA’s continuous improvement strategy for all its Training Packages.

The second draft of dance qualifications which will be included in a new Live Performance Training Package have been released for feedback. The process for developing national vocational qualifications in dance is being conducted by Verve - Knowledge and Skills on behalf of Innovation and Business Skills Australia (IBSA).

A second round of national consultations will take place over May, June and July 2010. This is an opportunity for the dance industry to provide specific feedback on draft qualifications and units. Ring Alanna on 3356 0650 or email her at alanna@cisc.com.au to attend.

The meeting in Brisbane is on Thursday July 22 and will be held at the Windsor International Hotel (Cnr Lutwyche Road and Bryden Street, Windsor).

FOUNDATION NEEDED TO SUPPORT INDIVIDUAL ARTISTS
Research reveals direct funding for individual artists has fallen by a third since the mid 1990s and alternative funding models are needed to support artists and nurture creative work, which is an increasingly important part of the economy and national life.

In a discussion paper released today, Arts Queensland and the Centre for Social Impact propose the establishment of a Foundation for the Artist – the first of its kind in Australia - to bring together public, private and corporate funding for artists and the creation of new work. The Foundation will complement existing funding sources, and offer new forms of support for creative practice and innovation.
